Class Victory at the Soapbox Theatre
A fantastic day for Class Victory at the Soapbox Theatre in Devonport. The children experienced a day of drama put on by our host characters Nancy and Sidney. They learnt all about the amazing historical building that was built in 1941 as a Mustard Gas Decontamination Unit, experienced a film of the blitz in Plymouth and the devastation of the city and listened to a drama performance from Nancy herself! After a break for cocoa, the children got into teams and wrote performance poems, which were brilliant! Class Victory experienced a real life Anderson Shelter having been evacuated into one after hearing the sirens, it was very chilling! Finally, Winston Churchill came on over the wireless and announced war was over, we all celebrated with a dance to Vera Lynn!
